As screening for syphilis and that means 2, 3, 4 cross results?

Syphilis - a sexually transmitted disease that affects the whole body of the patient. To identify the analysis for syphilis, 4 cross indicate secondary disease, and this result is most unfavorable for the patient. 3 crosses mean the syphilis is not in so bad condition, with 2 and 1 cross reveals the disease in earlier development, a minus indicates the absence of the disease. This method is based on Wasserman (RW). Despite the fact that there are many other methods for diagnosis of syphilis, the Wasserman method remains the main, though not without flaws, in particular the propensity to false-positive results. Blood test for RW allows to diagnose the disease at any stage with high accuracy (up to 90% at the 6-8 week after the onset of the disease, 98-100% with secondary syphilis). With timely diagnosis and adequate treatment of syphilis even four crosses or secondary treatable relatively easily.Syphilis tends to develop over time, more destructive to human form.

In case of advanced disease and congenital syphilis (baby receives from the mother, contracted in the womb) in the human body irreversible changes occur, which lead to disability and death.

Symptoms of secondary syphilis

Secondary syphilis is called the phase of the disease, coming after the primary period and spread of infection throughout the body. There is a slow damage internal organs, and there are a variety of skin rashes. Particularly affected are the kidneys, nervous system, bones and liver. Skin symptoms of secondary syphilis are very diverse. Secondary syphilides - that this specific name have skin rashes in syphilis, are divided into several types:

  • roseola;
  • papules;
  • blisters;
  • syphilitic leukoderma ("necklace of Venus");
  • syphilitic alopecia.

More specific symptoms are syphilitic leukoderma and syphilitic alopecia (baldness). When vitiligo even named the "necklace of Venus", on the neck of the patient are formed non-pigmented skin spots, surrounded by hyperpigmentation areas. Hyperpigmented areas darker than healthy skin. Sometimes vitiligo spread to other parts of the body - upper back and shoulders. In syphilitic alopecia, occurring in about 20% of cases, there are pockets big or small hair loss. Often the hair on the human head look like moss, moth-eaten. The skin is not affected.

Skin rashes usually do not cause patients pain, burning, or itching. Feature of skin lesionssecondary syphilis is that they can even with a weak or self-treatment 3-4 weeks to disappear under the influence of the immune system. Deep skin lesions will leave scars, but the rest of the rashes will disappear without a trace. But it does not mean recovery. The disease goes into a latent phase, but continues to develop in the third, most dangerous stage and prone to relapse. In addition to these symptoms, patients can present with cough, runny nose, symptoms of conjunctivitis, malaise, slight fever and hoarse voice with the defeat of disease of the vocal cords.

Treatment of syphilis

The causative agent of syphilis, Treponema pallidum, is virtually the only bacterium that has preserved a remarkably high sensitivity to penicillin. Therefore, it is the main drug in the treatment. Of the drugs penicillin, there are three: Bitsillin, Retarpen and Ekstentsillin. If you are allergic from person to resort to other penicillin antibiotics:

  • semi-synthetic penicillin drugs (e.g., Ampicillin or Amoxiclav);
  • the drugs (Doxycycline);
  • macrolides (Clarithromycin, Josamycin, Erythromycin);
  • fluoroquinolones (Ciprofloxacin, Ofloxacin);
  • aminoglycosides (Gentamicin);
  • ciprofloxacinum 3rd generation (Ceftriaxone).

If necessary, treat complications or damaged skin an additional therapy. The manifestation of any symptoms of the disease should immediately consult a doctor. Only a specialist can prescribe the necessary medications. Late diagnosis and self-medication is dangerous to life and health.
